ACCESS Facility

The Hamakua Institute and the ACCESS Facility, a Netherlands based non-profit, have partnered to help people and organizations address complex social and economic challenges in various parts of the world. While the Hamakua Institute is committed to facilitating collaboration for rural development, the ACCESS Facility is committed to enabling companies, communities and governments to work more collaboratively to achieve social and economic progress in the fairest possible manner.

The Hamakua Institute works with ACCESS members to establish “Communities of Interest,” uniquely structured ways of organizing people, businesses and organizations to address a common problem where they can mobilize resources, promote collaborative effort, draw in new support, and pool services. Communities of Interest can best make a difference where many stakeholders must cooperate to solve complicated problems, but they find it difficult to work directly together, trust each other and accept each other’s influences.
